Project update #1

About a month ago, I shared my current cross-stich project with you - the Kinkade/Disney Cinderella. I thought it was high time for an update since I've been working on it like mad in my free time this week. :)

Sorry about the crappy lighting. I'm actually pretty amazed - this is the most I've ever completed on this type of project, so I have high hopes for the finished product. :)

Oh, wow, Ruth! It looks amazing! :) So beautiful, and you've got so far on it! I especially love all of the colors in her skirt- gorgeous.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't got very far at all on my Pinocchio one. I haven't worked on it in weeks, either. It's so unlike the embroidery I'm used to doing!

I'm curious as to how you work on the project...did you work your way from the center out? I was trying to work color by color, so I won't get them mixed up. But this means I have random stitches spread all over the place, which means I can't see the picture coming together yet. Which is not very motivating. :)

@Kristin - Thanks girl! I have loved watching the picture come together. :)

I can't wait to see a Pinocchio pic. :)

I started from the center and worked out, stitching as many of one color as possible before switching to the next. Then, if I skip a couple of stitches for those "one-off" spots of color, I can weave them in.

You should see the back of my cloth, it is a MESS! I would definitely try working from the center out - if the pattern is at all like this one, you should be able to start seeing the pic coming together - which is what's been my big motivation. :)

Ruth, you are so stinking talented. This is gorgeous. I'm partial to Disney stories but this is lovely. Looks made out of star-thread :)

@Natalie - Oh, thanks girl! You're super sweet! :) I think the key for me is that I have to be motivated...no random cats or landscapes will motivate me to cross-stitch, but Disney? That's another story. :)

That is FANTASTIC! I tried cross-stitch a few years ago but couldn't get the hang of it. I think now that I have new glasses (horribly near-sighted!) and can consult YouTube for help (I don't know anyone nearby who does cross stitch), I may give it another try.

I LOVE this pattern and would probably choose it as a first project:

Oooo that is soooo pretty! I'm slightly jealous of you ladies who are doing all the beautiful cross-stitch projects. I gotta learn to do this and how to crochet too. ;-)

XOXO~ Renee

@Juju - Thanks! :)

@Ruth - That Doctor Who cross-stitch is so much fun! Thanks for the link! :)

@Amber S. - Thanks girl! I just discovered 1 small-ish error tonight in the tree portion of the pattern, that I think I'll be able to "correct" by adding an extra leaf stitch. Still...it's annoying. :) Thanks for your link, will check it out asap!

@Renee - You need to get into this too, girl! Thanks!

How lovely! I don't have the patience or talent for needlework, wish I did. Ruth, could you come up with a Jane Eyre cross stitch pattern? It could be a series: Jane at Lowood, Jane felling Rochester's horse, the proposal with that judgemental lightening bolt approaching in the distance..... You'd have to give up everything else in your life to finish it!! Lol

@Jeane - Oh, thank you! I'm having a lot of fun with it. :) I LOVE the idea of a JE cross-stitch series, that is brilliant!!!
