Jane Eyre 2011 poster!

I don't think I've ever mentioned the upcoming Jane Eyre film here on the blog - so, there's no time like the present, right? :) I've been following news about this movie on a couple of period film blogs as well as the film's official Facebook page. Today that page debuted the movie's new onesheet poster, featuring Mia Wasikowska as Jane and Michael Fassbender as Rochester. I absolutely love it! According the IMDB the film opens on March 11, 2011...it will be a dream come true if it actually opens on that date, and that's not a limited release date...but either way, at the rate time is flying the movie will be here before we know it! Any thoughts?

Update:

So, not being familiar with this Michael Fassbender person, I do what any good, obsessed movie fan would do in a case like this...turn to Google image search. Oh. My. WORD. This man is going to play Rochester?! I love this movie already. :)

Wow, I hadn't heard about this movie! :) I love the book and the only movie adaptation I've ever seen is the Orson Welles/Joan Fontaine 40s one. Which was much too short. :)

Anyway, love the poster. And I'm pretty excited about Mia Wasikowska being Jane!

Gorgeous! I'm not very familiar with Michael Fassbender or Mia Wasikowska so I can't wait to see a trailer for this!

@Juju - I KNOW!!! :)

@Kristin - I love the book as well - all things Jane, really. :) The story is so timeless! You've inspired me - I haven't seen the 1940s version in AGES!

@Renee - You are quite welcome, glad you are excited about this movie too! I adore the 2007 miniseries as well so I'm very curious to see how this one compares!

@Roving Reader - I really enjoyed Mia's performance as Alice in the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film. I think she will make an excellent Jane. I'm not familiar with Michael Fassbender either though so I'm very curious about him! And I can't wait for a trailer - with a March release date there needs to be a teaser trailer in theaters over the holidays! Surely that will happen...??

Ruth! I've been waiting for a re-do of Jane for years! I mean, a really, really fine re-do... Maybe this is it? Love that I don't have a clue about Fassbender as that always makes for a better viewing experience for me (though RA/John Thornton will always be #1 in my book). Can't wait to see the trailer when the time comes:) Bless u!

@Laura - Oh yay, I should've known you were a fellow Janeite! Or should I say Jane Eyre-ite? LOL! I am not familiar with Fassbender at all, either, so I can't WAIT to see his take on Rochester. Toby Stephens stole my heart in the PBS miniseries from 2007 (I think it was '07...can't remember exactly). Have you seen it?

So I'm biased given that Mia is Australian :) Hoping it will be fabulous!

I found you through Laura's page. I had not heard about this movie. I am so excited! It sounds like a perfect date night movie (for me!). :) My poor husband will go with me, because he loves me. I hope it is released in March.

Oooh! Yay! Awesome! Thank you! :D

@Rel - Thanks for stopping by! I had no idea Mia was Australian, that is very cool to know! I really liked her in Alice so I'm looking forward to seeing her as Jane...I think she's got a great look for the part.

@Stacey - Thanks so much for visiting! I really hope this movie releases promptly on March 11th too...I can't wait!

@Traxy - You're very welcome. Knew you'd be excited. :)

Well this is cool. A couple days ago I "cast' Michael F in a role in my next novel, based only on photos. I've never seen him in anything either. It's going to be hard not to compare this production to the Toby Stephens version. I hope it's good!

Unknown said...

@Lori - Are you kidding? You just cast Michael F. in your next book? That is awesome, talk about providential timing!

I agree, it is going to be VERY hard for me not to compare this new version to the Toby Stephens miniseries...that one is my favorite (to date, any way!).

Okay, there's nothing like arriving a few months late to the party. In searching for Fassbender photos, I found your blog, which is right up my alley! I have a Jane Eyre obsession. And I loved this new movie (even though my first Jane viewing was Timothy Dalton's, whom I love)! I intend to read thru your blog when I have the proper time, just had to say hello to a fellow Brit flick and lit fan!
