Anna Karenina trailer!

Is this not the most gorgeous thing you've ever SEEN?! Anna Karenina opens -- in what will likely be a limited release -- in November. This cast -- this cast is AMAZING! Kiera Knightley, Jude Law, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Michelle Dockery, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Holliday Grainger, Ruth Wilson -- can we say Oscar bait? AND a score by Dario Marianelli? Can. Not. WAIT.

Oh my goodness- Matthew Macfadyen? I hardly recognized him! {His voice always gives him away.} He looked like old Mr. Turveydrop in Bleak House!

P.S. The cast list for this is incredible. And the music in the trailer is gorgeous! I don't even know the basics of the plot, but I might have to see this.

I didn't read your post, just immediately started playing the clip on full screen. My first immediate two reactions was 1) OMG THEY MADE JUDE LAW UGLY!!!! and 2) DARCY AND LIZZY!!!!!!

The trailer looks great! I've read the book, it's one of my all time favorites, so I'm hoping they will be able to do it justice. While I agree Jude Law does look ugly, from the scenes, I think he's playing Alexei Karenin perfectly. Keira seems to be playing Anna well too. I believe Matthew Macfayden is playing Anna's brother.

I'm not so certain about Count Vronsky's appearance though, doesn't really fit with how I've always pictured him in my head.

That said, if the movie plays here you can bet I'll be watching it.

For those wanting to read the book, it can be a little though to get through. The parts with Anna and Count Vronsky are fine, but the other parts with Levin and Kitty I found to be very difficult.

Oh wow! This looks amazing. I think Keira's P&P is my favorite movie...maybe #1 :) so I dont think I'll be able to resist this...even with the dreadful knowledge that it wont end well! I own this book...but never read it. Pehaps I shall!
If it's too sad though, I'll have to watch my old 'cheer up' standby, Napoleon Dynamite, or maybe just Pride and Prejudice?

I can't wait! This trailer reminds me that I need to try to read AK again so I can be prepared when this movie is released.

Looks like it will be a visual masterpiece but... isn't this like a doomed, tragic story!? Those are ones I can only watch when I am in the right mood. LOL! ;-)

Looks pretty. I just hope they don't get so caught up in showing the doomed love affair that they forget the moral of the story.

@Kristin - I KNOW> Matthew's voice is a dead giveaway though. :)

@Deborah - This is definitely a different look for Jude Law, ha!! ;)

@Michelle - I've never read the book -- go you! :) Is there a certain translation you'd recommend?

@Heather - I know I won't be able to resist this movie -- the costumes and the cast list? It's too much! :)

@Bookworm1858 - Let me know if you read this!

@Rissi - Yep, that's my understanding. :)

@Charity - Hopefully they've got a good script -- all of the other pieces promise to be in place! *crosses fingers*

Isn't it gorgeous? The cast is stellar and the cinematography is looking to be absolutely breath-taking. And Dario Marianelli can do no wrong, I'm looking forward to it like no tomorrow, lol

@Lianne - I completely agree! And I love Marianelli's music! :)
