Kristin Chenoweth, a.k.a. one of my favorite female vocalists, released a new album this week -- the country-tinged Some Lessons Learned. I am LOVING it. I thought I'd share a bit of a preview here --
Fun! Kristin is an Oklahoma girl! My husband went to the university she went to (Oklahoma City University) it has a really strong musical theater program. I tease him his degree was in computer science with a minor in tap dancing ;)
Oh my goodness, Ruth! I am so glad you featured this album. Everything I've seen Kristin in, she is just great. This album has me really curious - since I'm going out shopping tomorrow, I'm hoping to find it. =)
@Rissi - I hope to get around to a "formal" review post -- but until then I couldn't resist the clips. If you are going to buy a physical CD, check out Target -- their version has 2 bonus tracks. :)
Thanks for the "tip," Ruth. The plan is to go to Target, so I'll have to check it out. (Bonus stuff is always cool!) I would rather have the physical CD (or anything for that matter, i.e., books, movies). I've even managed to *gasp* surrvive WITHOUT an iPod. Although I do and can purchase MP3 downloads on Amazon.
Ruth, my first introduction to Kristin was in "Wicked", but you know what, you have made me want to listen to more....so thank you! I will get the CDs before I buy the MP3s
Did you ever see Kristin in "You Again?" For some reason, she totally cracks me up in that movie. I do wish she had sung in some scene though.
Oh, I did my review of "Jane Eyre." I hate telling people to check out my blog....but you should tell me what you think ;-)
@Rissi - ME TOO (no iPod, that is)!!! :) Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on KC's new album!
@Ella - Oh I LOVE WICKED! Such a great show. My intro to Kristin was actually her album 'Let Yourself Go' (which is AMAZING) - and from there I sought out all subsequent albums and Broadway music.
I haven't seen 'You Again', I will have to check it out! She is too funny. I LOVED her in the short-lived TV show 'Pushing Daisies' (where she did get to sing a couple of times!).
Off to check out your blog -- never ever apologize for link recs! ;)
I bought a copy of Kristin's album today (@Target!), so thanks for reminding me about it, Ruth!
Your mention of "You Again" makes me want to see that movie again, Ella - and "Pushing Daisies" was a wonderful, wonderful show. What was ABC thinking when they cancelled it!?
Speaking of Pushing Daisies -- I was rewatching my DVDs earlier this year, and while I think the charm of the show might not have lent itself to longevity, I do so wish they'd been given the opportunity for a third season to really wrap up some of the storylines a little less hurriedly.
