More Royal Wedding fashion...

I can't seem to help myself. I woke up this morning to a notification that the Royal Family had released the official wedding photos (for some reason it cracks me up that the British Monarchy has its own official photostream on Flickr).

I love the expressions on the kids' faces in this photo, they are all too cute! (Click to view larger image.)

I can't imagine having the freaking Throne Room in Buckingham Palace as the setting for a formal wedding group picture. The elegance of just this glimpse overwhelmes me! (Click to view larger image.)

I completely forgot to look for pictures of Kate's gown for the reception(s) after the wedding yesterday, so I simply had to rectify that error this morning.

Just as classy as her wedding dress. I love the fact that she went with the same designer, Sarah Burton, for both dresses. I don't know if that is the norm for royal weddings, but it provides a nice sense of continuity between the ceremony dress and the reception gown.

Sister Pippa looks every bit as classy, though I confess the neckline is a bit too low for me to be comfortable with it. *wink* I love the color, though, and the Grecian "feel" of the dress. Very elegant.

And last but certainly not least, I have got to tell you I loved Carole Middleton's evening dress. Absolutely gorgeous, so elegant and classy. It's easy to see where her daughters got their looks and poise. This may just be my favorite of the three.

Thoughts? :)

  1. Hi, Ruth -- I thought the wedding was absolutely lovely and that the entire Middleton family dressed so elegantly and with class. Kate's mother's wedding suit was stunning and understated and her hat was fab! But the star, of course, was Kate's gorgeous dress, absolutely perfect. I'm gad I did not place any money on a bet, though, as I was sure Kate's dress would not have much lace, and I would have lost that bet. I'm so glad she wore her hair down as she is so natural and pretty -- I think that's what makes her so attractive-- she doesn't have to try hard to be beautiful -- she just IS. :)

  2. I hadn't seen the pics of Pippa and her mom for the evening reception! I like Carole's dress!
I wasn't fond of Kate's choice for the evening at all. Thought she could have been more creative for the evening due with her friends! But that's just a small beef in an otherwise perfect day!

  3. The kids were freaking adorable. Did you see the one flower girl's expression during their kiss on the balcony? Haha. :)

  4. The portrait of all of them almost doesn't even look real- it looks like a painting or something. I can't get over how much taller Prince William is than his dad and even Harry- I really didn't notice that yesterday. (Also, I can't get over the fact that he's getting a bald spot so young-poor guy. :)

  5. @Joanne - I completely agree - a bit part, I think, of Kate's appeal is her confidence. She seems very comfortable in her own skin. :)

@Charleybrown - Isn't Carole's dress fabulous? Love it. Personally I really like the relatively simple choice for the evening dress - I wouldn't be surprised if it was an attempt to balance her own taste with convention? Just a thought.

@heidenkind - Oh my goodness, that was too funny!

@Kristin - Poor Wills definitely inherited his father's hair genes. LOL!

  7. Oooo Carole's dress is very Downton Abbey LOL! I LOVE it but I gotta say Pippa's dress is probably my fave, bring that neckline up a bit and I'd wear that any day of the week. :-P

    XOXO~ Renee

  8. @Juju - Oh I know...I feel like I'm gonna hit wedding withdrawals before too long... ;)

@Renee - You are so right about Carole's dress, I hadn't thought of that but now I love it even more. LOL!

  9. Hahaha, I was tempted to post the new pictures today and didn't. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who had that idea. :-)

I liked Kate's dress...of course coming on the heels of her magnificent wedding gown, naturally it doesn't quite match up in amazingness ;-), but if I hadn't seen the wedding gown I would completely love it. :-)

Pippa's dress is lovely if it were higher in the neckline...that color looks stunning on her. But I agree, Carole's gown is lovely.

And I do agree that Kate seems very comfortable with herself, and it's probably why she can pull off her awesome fashion sense - I think you have to be confident in yourself to be able to do that. And from yesterday's appearance, it seems it's something that runs in the Middleton family. :-)

  10. @Alexandra - C'mon, you should go for it! How often do we have royal weddings to gush about on our blogs? :)

And seriously, confidence and elegance do seem to be inherited traits in the Middleton family. LOVE IT. :)

  13. I'm glad to see some others were excited about the wedding! I thought it was gorgeous :)I was up with a small child at about 4:30 and decided I might as well watch it live and was surprised how excited I was (I thought nothing could get me excited before dawn outside of a house fire, lol) It was so nice to see everyone so happy and hopeful and it was all just gorgeous. We're sorta anglophiles here (my husband's family is english, we've got a moor in northern england with our last name. Plus, we're Episcopalian, which is American Anglican ;) ) and so we really got into it. I think they're a lovely couple and did things the right way (no child brides there!) and I hope they can succeed where their elders didnt. Plus...have you seen this site? http://katemiddletonforthewin.tumblr.com/ cracks me UP!

  14. @Heather - Woo-hoo, yay for another early riser! There are somethings that are just more FUN to watch live, somehow - and this was one of those occasions for me. :) I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments and wish them all the best - they seem to be very grounded and if that proves true, that quality will serve them well. Thank you SO much for the link, that is HILARIOUS!
