Sherlock - background video

I absolutely positively can't WAIT for the new Sherlock series to start on Masterpiece Mystery. October 24th can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned. :)

Here's a new video that's recently been released, featuring some new footage from the show as well as interview segments with showrunner Steven Moffat and star Benedict Cumberbatch.

For some reason I have a fondness for Benedict Cumberbatch (maybe I just love how British his name sounds) so I can't wait to watch this series! I'm excited to see how they bring Sherlock and Watson into the 21st century.

I am usually quite picky about versions of Sherlock Holmes, especially since I am partial to Basil Rathbone. I am quite excited about this one though... hurry up 24th :)

@Roving Reader - BC does have a fantastic name, doesn't he? Just one of many reasons to love him! :) Given all the rave reviews I've seen for Sherlock around the blogosphere, I'm so anxious to see if the show lives up to the hype. I have such high hopes!

@Svea - The Basil Rathbone films are a lot of fun, aren't they? Though I must confess, Jeremy Brett has always been "my" Sherlock. The real "test" for me will be how BC compares to Brett. And yes, hurry up 24th!!

This show really looks intriguing!
I have seen a few trailers for it already, but guess what? Silly PBS has blocked your video. They should realize you are giving them free advertising!! DUH!

@phylly3 - Maybe PBS put the video back up? I just clicked on it and it's playing for me now...very weird!!

Well, I like BC. Never been too much into Sherlock Holmes, but did anyone else sense the ghost of Gregory House lurking in the wings as the actor was talking about his character? GH is another character who is brilliant at his job, anti-social, and says what he thinks, to the discomfort of everyone around him and some good comedic moments. I like a little of that sometimes. House-ish-ness, not lurking ghosts. Hopefully the writers will make Holmes a relatable character, as well as brilliant and quirky.

@Lori - Good call on the House likeness. I hadn't gone there b/c I've never been a regular viewer of that show...though I do admire a lot about Hugh Laurie's performance!
