This is wonderful news. Cannot wait for my DVD set to arrive. :)
I'm so excited! :) I've had my calendar marked for months (yeah, I'm a nerd...a forgetful one).
I was going to say that series 3 seemed like it was the last series, because the final episode was very "wrappey-uppey" and "and this is what happened to us after this point", but according to Wikipedia, there will be a Christmas special and a series 4 next year. I'm just happy there will be another series because it's a very good show. :)

@Kristin - Ha! Sounds like me. ;)
@Traxy - I seem to remember reading that they thought series 3 might be the last because they were reaching the end of the stories they could pull from the three memoirs. But the show has taken on such a life, I'm thrilled it's getting a season 4 - and have the confidence that this team can pull it off in a spectacular fashion. :)
