I love me some F. Scott Fitzgerald, so I've been anticipating Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby for a while now -- even moreso after seeing the stunning photoshoot star Carey Mulligan recently completed for Vogue. The costumes, people, THE COSTUMES. Never mind that I've pinned all my hopes on Mulligan being the most perfect film realization of Daisy to date. What's that when compared to these CLOTHES?
Images via Vogue/Pinterest. Aren't these GORGEOUS, people?
When I saw the first preview I thought, wow, she's exactly what I pictured when I read the book. The costumes do look pretty great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous set of pictures. I love the dresses. Especially the pale blue feathery one.
ReplyDelete@Jennifer - Doesn't she just have THE LOOK?! Can't wait! :)
ReplyDelete@Juju - That one is gorgeous! I think my favorite is a tie between the pearls and feathered skirt and the "mermaid" dress with the lace back.
I am a huge Carey Mulligan fan. Have you seen An Education? She's great in that. Her and Amanda Seyfried are my favorite actresses.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of tragic stories, but in all likelihood I'll see this one. If only for the opportunity to see some stunning opulence! Love these photos, Ruth - they are so reminiscent of the time period. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDelete@Tasha - YES! I love her in An Education (and Bleak House, I am pretty sure that's where I first saw her)! SUCH a good film.
ReplyDelete@Rissi - Opulence is the operative word here, isn't it. :)
These photos are beautiful! The colors, the style. Wow. I have to admit that I'm not a fan of Fitzgerald-still too traumatized from reading the book in high school and hating it. But Carey sure does look the part! :)
ReplyDelete@Kara - I think she's gonna be pretty perfect! *crosses fingers*
