Okay, I'm really not sure how I feel about the news that NBC is planning a new version of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood as Maria. I mean I LOVE her music and her voice, but she and Julie Andrews are SO different. However this video has come across my radar and it is a stunner...
This could be a stroke of genius...
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I never would of even considered her but she did a really good job. So who knows?
ReplyDeleteWow. I would have scoffed had I heard this from anyone but you. Her singing was amazing, but can she act? And isn't she too beautiful to be Maria? (Because she is gorgeous in that video!) Still, after hearing that, I'm willing to keep an open mind!
ReplyDeleteMy husband told me that they were doing a remake and I thought, "Seriously? Why remake perfection?" But, I really liked Carrie's version. It could work. I wonder who they'll cast as the Captain?
ReplyDeleteShe has a lovely voice but she sings without any soul. Julie had sparkle and personality. I would prefer someone like Amy Adams.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the Captain? You know there is no one but Richard Armitage for me! :)
@Rissi - A lot depends on who they cast opposite her as the Captain...
ReplyDelete@Lori - I know, I never would've thought of her either. But this video one of the news articles links to makes me think it could work! (Also, I just now got this comment, re: your FB msg LOL! This was NOT the comment I was referring to!)
@Anne - That remains to be seen, doesn't it? I wanna hear more casting announcements now! :)
@Holly - I know! I think so much will depend on that and if he has chemistry with Carrie!
@phylly3 - Well, I think she sings with some soul, but I know what you mean. :) Amy Adams would actually be pretty perfect personality-wise for the role of Maria -- and she can sing too. :) And Richard A. as the Captain? THAT would be interesting! :)
I talked about this on my Facebook page and a lot of people are skeptical....I hadn't seen this video. Carrie might just work after all. I just hope she can act =P
ReplyDeleteBut I adore her anyway! I'm getting to see her in concert in February! So she will always have a vote of confidence from me <3
@Ella - You're going to see her in concert? That's awesome! I think I'd love to see her live someday.
ReplyDeleteI just can't see it! But Richard Armitage as the captain would be nice. :) I'm just excited to see him as a dwarf, soo...
ReplyDelete@Jennifer - Yes he would be a great Captain, wouldn't he? And thanks to the trailers for The Hobbit we know he can sing! :)
