I'm torn about this.....I love me some Sherlock. I really do. However, I cannot get past Watson being a woman. (Not that I have anything against our sex you understand ;-) I just......Watson and Holmes were two men in the books and I'm kind of a stickler for that. Seasons from now, I see them trying to do a romance....and that just isn't right.
However, I am also the girl who railed against Kono being a woman in the new Hawaii Five-0 and now, I wouldn't have it any other way. What's worse, I "ship" her with McGarrett of all people ;-) (Which, by the way, I think the season started off pretty well this past week.) So, all that to say is....I might give Elementary a try and find myself falling in love with it.
That is my history after all. I boycotted White Collar until recently (and now, I cannot get enough of that show. This season was FABULOUS).......okay, enough with my rambling, but you get the idea
@Tasha B. - You're welcome! We shall have to discuss. :)
@Ella - I really do get where you're coming from...but I'm open to trying something that is at least very "loosely" inspired by something I love. Sherlock and Watson of the canon are strong enough to take it, methinks. :) I may try to blog the premiere ep if I can FIND THE TIME (I feel so behind on everything...my drafts folder! EEEP!). ;)
I have never seen an episode of the original H50, so I can't compare. But I have to say I love Kono...and her bad-boy (reformed?) boyfriend. :) I told another friend of mine on Facebook yesterday, I hope that someday the show can write equally compelling romantic interests for the guys...so far their potential partners have fallen flat IMO.
Glad you are enjoying this season of WC thus far! :) I can't wait for the show to return!!
I just saw the ad for this on Yahoo and thought, "I bet Ruth will watch this!" and sure enough, I see this post. :) I want to watch it too... I love Sherlock in most forms.
Okay, Ruth's real review will come along soon and I'm looking forward to it. I had to keep shoving Benedict and Martin out of my mind. JLM did an admirable job but it took me awhile to buy in. It was no hardship to just watch and listen. Jonny Lee Miller has that something - vulnerability, a fine-boned masculinity? a Englishman in NY vibe. And as has been mentioned, the loveliest of voices.
It's a tough sell in a world of Sherlocks and I think they found their place. The chemistry started to click by the end.

I am watching this but haven't decided if it will be "live" or going old school and taping it to watch later.
What are your impressions of it? I think it's going to be FUN. :-)
Me too. I can't wait.
@Rissi - I'm hoping for a fun twist on the procedural format...looking forward to it! (Plus, I just love Jonny Lee Miller, and his ACCENT!) :)
@Juju - :)
Oh, good! Thanks for the reminder. I straight-up forgot about it.

Gonna skip this. I'm such a stickler for Sherlock Holmes that it would probably just make me mad. =P
