I see a problem on the horizon...Call the Midwife premieres on PBS September 30th, and runs for six weeks airing at 8:00 Eastern/7:00 Central...Once Upon a Time's timeslot! EEEPP! Has anyone across the pond seen this series? I think it sounds fascinating!
CALL THE MIDWIFE
Sundays, September 30 to November 4, 2012, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET
Based on a best-selling trilogy by the late Jennifer Worth, CALL THE MIDWIFE is a fascinating portrayal of birth, life and death in a world drastically different from ours. This six-part series offers an unconventional twist to Sunday-night British dramas and brings mid-20th-century London to life, focusing on the joys and hardships of a group of midwives working in London’s East End.

A second series of Call the Midwife has already been confirmed!
YES! I have been wanting to see this one - I am SO glad it is finally premiering in the states which translates to it being available on DVD. :-)
ReplyDeleteCANNOT wait 'til its run is over - hopefully by Christmas the DVD's will be on Amazon.
@Rissi - There isn't a region 1 DVD preorder link on Amazon yet, but I suspect you're right and the set will be available shortly after it finishes airing on PBS.
ReplyDeleteJust watch it the next morning on PBS's website. =)
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen/heard anything about this until now.
Considering the "tradition" of all other PBS programming appearing on DVD shortly after it airs, yes, I confident Amazon will have it - CANNOT wait!
ReplyDeleteIt will be a fun Christmas gift (for myself). :-)
@Charity - I know...I just like my nice neat non-conflicting schedule of 7:00 Once viewing followed by an 8:00 Masterpiece session. :P
ReplyDelete@Rissi - I hope so! :)
We get our TV via computer now. That is, My Husband bought an receptor for our computer, b/c we have a bitty house and both feel weird about multiple screens.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, he records our shows in some DVR-ish fashion, and we're able to see them whenever, but one year two of his important somethings clashed and he bought a second receptor(!). So now we don't pay much attention to dates and times at all-- we just tell the program what we want, and get around to watching it later in the week.
Totally my way to do telly (I'd hit life that way too, if I had a choice).
@Amy Jane - That sounds like a pretty sweet set-up! I think I'm jealous... :)
