I've always enjoyed many of the BBC's Comic Relief sketches, and this year was no exception. With the wild success of Downton Abbey and the relaunch of Upstairs Downstairs, this Uptown Downstairs Abbey spoof is priceless.

This is a riot! Love that British humor! Thanks for the laughs today. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, those were hilarious. :) "A servant must retain a sense of pride and prejudice at all times." I also loved the Leo Dicaprio line, all of the "maids," and the looks. :) They got all of the voices down incredibly, especially Cora and Violet!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Is that Michael Gambon as narrator? That guy is everywhere! :)
~Kristin
I thought it was hilarious and very well made. Highlight of the Red Nose evening!
ReplyDelete@Joanne - Brilliant, isn't it? Glad you enjoyed it too!
ReplyDelete@Kristin - The Leo line cracked me up! And yep, that was Michael Gambon...didn't read that anywhere, but it HAD to be him. That voice is unmistakable! :)
@Traxy - I whole-heartedly agree!
Love these! Thanks for posting them.
ReplyDelete@Renee Ann - You're welcome, glad you enjoyed them!
ReplyDeleteThis was awesome! I love that Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley were in this...they were both brilliant. And what's with Kim Cattral being in so many period pieces (and now spoofs)?! Does she live in England now like Elizabeth McGovern? I also love the reference about Bates being in Lark Rise.
ReplyDelete@Lori - Oh, I know - Saunders and Lumley KILLED me in this, they were so funny!
ReplyDeleteRe: Kim Cattrall...okay, until recently I had no idea she was born in Liverpool! Did you know? A friend of mine watched the "Who Do You Think You Are" episode that featured her journey to find out about her grandfather...it was absolutely fascinating. Here's the episode link: http://www.nbc.com/who-do-you-think-you-are/video/kim-cattrall/1303312/
Oh yeah, I think I had read that before, but I knew she had lived in Canada for a long time too and I often think of her as Canadian since she doesn't have an accent. I'm jealous...Canadian and British!! I'll have to check out the "Who Do You Think You Are" special.
ReplyDelete@Lori - You know, I think I had in my head that she was Canadian too. Anyway, hope you get a chance to watch that episode, it was fascinating!
