I'm still working on my review of part two of
Return to Cranford, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to remind ya'll that the new version of
Emma begins tonight on Masterpiece Classic, starring Romola Garai in the title role along with Jonny Lee Miller.
Ooh, will be interesting to see what you make of it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks much, Ruth! You're such a dear:) Will try to watch on my end and look forward to what you make of it, like Traxy says!
ReplyDelete@Traxy - Thanks, I will try to have my review of part 1 up by Tuesday at the latest.
ReplyDelete@Laura - Aww, thank you! Hope you get a chance to watch as well!
I watched it and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteoh no! I forgot to set my DVR! You'll have to save yours so I can watch next time I come over.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it, I liked it a lot better than the Kate Beckinsale version. I can't wait till next week! :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to watch it, but these shows come on so late for us non-night-owls. I usually head to bed a little before 9pm when I mean to work the next day. I'll have to wait for Netflix.
ReplyDelete@Jennifer - So glad you enjoyed it too!
ReplyDelete@Lori - I actually pre-ordered the DVD already - last time I checked it's down to $21.99 on Amazon. So yeah - whether it's on the DVR or on DVD, we'll definitely watch it.
@Lizzie - I've always preferred the Paltrow Emma to the Beckinsale one. So far this one is on track to tie, if not surpass, the Paltrow version. :)
@Lori - PBS is streaming Emma online - here's the link:

Excellent...so, Jonny is redeeming himself?
ReplyDeleteDid you notice that Ovation TV has recently been showing quite a few period pieces lately plus reruns of Lost in Austen and Slings and Arrows? I'm in the middle of watching Madame Bovary with Frances O'Connor, Hugh Bonneville, Greg Wise, and Hugh Dancy.
@Lori - Yeah, I'd say Jonny is redeeming himself. :) And we need to do something soon, it feels like it's been forever...so an Emma day would be fun!
ReplyDeleteDon't tell me such fabulous news about the Ovation channel! That channel got dropped when I cut my satellite package to try & save a few $$!! UGH! I can't believe I'm missing Slings & Arrows re-runs and a Hugh Dancy/Greg Wise film that I'VE NEVER SEEN!!! :P
I agree!!
ReplyDeleteSorry...didn't know you had sacrificed that channel. I will say it's not an uplifting piece and you will grow to hate Frances O'Connor in it. It was really only saved by the fact that there are such hot men in it!
@Lori - Well that's a relief to know! LOL!
