I haven't seen the movie yet, but find the casting of Kristin Stewart to be...odd. I haven't heard one person who thinks she's a great actress, so why give her a role like this? Charlize Theron is one of my favorite actresses, and I'm so pleased to hear she killed it.

While I haven't seen this, I did really enjoy Once Upon a Time, and I'll definitely be seeing Mirror, Mirror...if only so I can compare it to Snow White and the Huntsman.

PS I sent you an email...hoping it doesn't go to spam!trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10688001590373132381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-22753232816867678952012-06-13T10:11:06.533-07:002012-06-13T10:11:06.533-07:00@Carissa - You definitely have a fair point about ...@Carissa - You definitely have a fair point about Hawkeye and Robin Hood...especially most recently my beloved Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. I'm afraid I didn't care at all for the Duke's son a.k.a. Prince. I'm spoiled by the awesomeness of Hawkeye and Robin Hood so he fell mightily short. But I loved Chris Hemsworth (seriously, who doesn't?). That man never fails to impress and the dwarves were a great addition, a much needed element of humor and likeableness. I was unimpressed by Kristin as I expected but Charlize remains an incredible and talented actress. It's a neat movie. Not the best but certainly not the worst. That question had better get answered in the sequel!

I'm about halfway through the novel, and apparently the horse was "sent" by the fairies (in the magpies) to guide Snow to the Fairy Tale version of the woods. Also, it is implied in the novelization that Ravenna felt a moment's pity for Snow, and that's why she didn't immediately kill her when she took power -- but even in the novel version that isn't spelled out very well.

LOVE how you liken William to Peeta, that is spot-on!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11986319237275869540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-6884687536056582612012-06-12T12:40:24.509-07:002012-06-12T12:40:24.509-07:00I agree - there was so much potential with this fi...I agree - there was so much potential with this film, but so many threads were dropped, things unexplained, too much focus on the wrong things - I felt a desperate urge to grab all the raw footage and edit it into the amazing movie this could have been.

I was made less mad at the ending by news of the sequel, but still, I WANT TO KNOW, do either Snow White or the Huntsman realize it was his kiss that woke her?

Lots of other things bugged me too - the horse just sitting there, the fact that the dwarfs could have been completely removed and the story wouldn't have changed much, the weird fairy place (were they trying to be Pandora? Would have played much better to the whole "savior healing the land" if Snow White had caused the dark forest or even a regular one to turn into this), why Ravenna even kept Snow White alive all this time, what that weird white stuff was . . . this list could go on for a while.

But there were some things I loved, namely CHRIS HEMSWORTH (of course) and romantic twist with the Huntsman, William's bow prowess and jointing the bad guys to find his childhood friend (very Peeta-like), Ravenna transforming into William to get Snow White to eat the apple, the Huntsman being the one to wake Snow White, seeing familiar faces among the dwarfs (though The Hobbit's dwarfs should be much more awesome in this regard), the hints that Ravenna was insane, and Snow White using the move the Huntsman taught her to defeat the queen.Katie Hart - Pinterest Managerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14892763965326103296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-81801533837456448252012-06-12T11:19:06.724-07:002012-06-12T11:19:06.724-07:00The comments in your post about Kristen Stewart cr...The comments in your post about Kristen Stewart cracked me up. :)

I'll probably see this on DVD someday, but not in theaters.

~KristinKristinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10592919145644124930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-19218395222681910182012-06-12T10:01:58.290-07:002012-06-12T10:01:58.290-07:00@Kaye - I really liked the nifty leather pants LOL...@Kaye - I really liked the nifty leather pants LOL! ;) I agree with you about Chris & humor -- he could definitely bring it. Maybe my opinion of them will change upon subsequent viewings.

The script is wise to limit Stewart's dialogue...it's unfortunate that what they do give her to say (like the rally the troops speech) just doesn't work because 1) it is a bad speech and 2) her aforementioned lack of charisma. *sigh* Good point though bringing up her athleticism, as that really did translate in her favor on-screen!

I hear you on Snow/William with these actors...but right now I still love the Huntsman idea more...so that is barely trumping the other pairing. ;)

Oh, and I'm reading the novelization on my Kindle right now! And I was right to be. She brings all the charisma of Bella Swan to the role---which means she can pout and brood and sit around moping, but not much else. Though, I do have to admit, she does seem quite athletic, because she did look good in all of her action scenes.

In this incarnation of the story, with these actors in the roles, I definitely want Snow to end up with William, not Chris (I hate that they never even gave him a real name).

Do you have the novelization?
