What a grand series... if only to overcome human prejudices and see each other as we really are ... so rich in potential in our service to one another! Cheers! I was very surprised to see Peter Firth (from Spooks) with a small cameo role here!
Mrs. Crawley (from Downton Abbey) also has a role and I did recognize Colonel Brandon as you mentioned. So nice to visit with these folks again.
Plus I am enjoying the story...although the mad woman is still being hidden away -- at least not in the attic!Phylly3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10551254554577516351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-59266600624673281792011-05-03T05:33:49.984-07:002011-05-03T05:33:49.984-07:00@Kaye - Yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath. ;) ...@Kaye - Yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath. ;) Midge is a troubling child - I hope that she can get help and work through some of her issues by the end of this series!

And yeah, I was an English major too remember...the life/death struggle blah blah blah as you say. ;) Like you, I'm more Team Joe in the case of this series, so life and death notwithstanding I can't fathom being more moved by the calf than the earlier conversation with poor Joe. *sigh* LOL!

So yep...I would get to working on that new story synopsis... ;)

@heidenkind - I KNOW!!! It's gonna be awesome. And no, you never shared that fantastic Hathaway lookalike news with me. WHERE IS THIS CHURCH?! I NEED TO VISIT IT! :)

@Debra - Thanks for stopping by! When you get to see the show on DVD I'd love to hear your take on it! :)

@Kristin - Yay, glad you enjoyed it too! And you are right, in defense of the poor calf it was pretty adorable when it was all said and done. :)

@Elaine - I'm curious to see Sarah's reaction to this revelation, and how she responds to it. Somehow I suspect she may not be quite as morally upstanding as Jane, but maybe I'm not giving her enough credit...?! ;) Thanks for stopping by & sharing your thoughts!

@Kaye (and Elaine too) :) - I can only think the dramatic possibilities are irresistable to some authors. ;) I am a bit curious to see how this one plays out...I get this feeling that Robert is dancing on the edge of unbalanced himself from the stress of his life.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11986319237275869540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-77280797001881249642011-05-02T22:58:02.949-07:002011-05-02T22:58:02.949-07:00"Besides, what's so romantic about a guy ..."Besides, what's so romantic about a guy who's already married to an insane girl??"

@Elaine--my sentiments exactly! :-DKaye Dacushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04187774900100851982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-2363688480844734232011-05-02T21:54:56.313-07:002011-05-02T21:54:56.313-07:00My family and I watched this last night and it was...My family and I watched this last night and it was pretty interesting although I personally didn't really like the final twist of the plot that the guy's insane wife is still alive. That kind of plot can only be pulled off really well one time and that was in Jane Eyre. Besides, what's so romantic about a guy who's already married to an insane girl??

What was with the cow scene anyway? My folks had to flip the channel for a couple minutes to avoid it and my youngest brother was giving me weird looks.

Good review though!! ;)Elaine J. So excited!!!!

Did I tell you that the pastor at my grandparents' church seriously looks exactly like Inspector Hathaway?Heidenkindhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09494625457587427781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-39162822190786365192011-05-02T14:37:20.906-07:002011-05-02T14:37:20.906-07:00I am desperately hoping, though I'm sure futil...I am desperately hoping, though I'm sure futilely, that this doesn't turn into a 1930s version of Jane Eyre. As I posted on FB last night, I don't understand this fascination with tortured, already married, need-therapy-in-a-BAD-way men. So even though I know it's a hopeless cause, I'm Team Joe (Douglas Henshall) all the way!

Yes, I picked up what you did with Midge's first scene. I think she's unbalanced because she believes that she, somehow, killed her mother. And that she probably inherited a little of her mother's instability---genetically or psychologically from exposure to it as a young child. (What is it with these brooding English men and their penchant for marrying crazy, must-be-locked-away women?)

As far as the calf-birthing scene, I understand the thought behind it---it's a struggle for life or death, with new life (new hope, new chances, new love, whathaveyou) winning in the end. It's the circle-of-life metaphor. Blah, blah, blah. (Yes, that's pretty much how I wrote my papers for literary criticism in college, blahs notwithstanding.)

And if she doesn't pick Joe in the end, I may just have to write a novel in which a very Joe-like character, complete with uber-sexy Scottish accent, has his own romance and gets the girl.Kaye Dacushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04187774900100851982noreply@blogger.com
