I initially wrote this film vs. book comparison after seen the broadcast cut of the show on PBS. My opinion of the film improved slightly when I saw the DVD, which restored 8-10 minutes of footage. I still prefer Christie's original novel, in this case though.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11986319237275869540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-66821347137233860952010-01-01T13:38:07.310-08:002010-01-01T13:38:07.310-08:00I have read a few of Agatha Christie's books b...I have read a few of Agatha Christie's books but this is not one of them (not yet). So I only have the different film versions to compare. I watched the older one first and was rather skeptical about whether the newer one was worth watching. I was pleasantly suprised, but was intrigued by the the changed in the plot, which is what caused me to go hunting on the internet. This site answered my questions of course. Although, the newer film appealed to me, it did seem rather complex and I wonder if it was most likely to appeal to someone like me who had already seen the first film and not read the book.mitchellmckainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05133706906526601038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-6288613898001399852009-07-21T16:52:25.397-07:002009-07-21T16:52:25.397-07:00@Vic - You're welcome! It's a stretch, in my view, to even call the film inspired by the book it underwent such an overhaul in the scriptwriting process.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11986319237275869540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-1133758812852675352009-07-21T16:13:48.886-07:002009-07-21T16:13:48.886-07:00I thought the plot was convoluted, and that murder...I thought the plot was convoluted, and that murdering 5 people because one had a child out of wedlock was not a good enough reason to destroy so many lives. I also will need to read the book. Thanks for the review! However, I'm grateful for the movie...when I read the book I had the bonus of imagining Bernard Cumberbatch as Luke. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11986319237275869540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319032275293010502.post-67790362327432466532009-07-19T17:44:55.544-07:002009-07-19T17:44:55.544-07:00Aw, man, now I'm going to have to read the boo...Aw, man, now I'm going to have to read the book. :)Heidenkindhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09494625457587427781noreply@blogger.com
